About the role

Food is a big part of the PGL adventure experience, and as a Catering Assistant you’ll join a welcoming, hard-working team that keeps guests and staff well-fed and happy.

You’ll help prepare and serve fresh meals, keep dining areas clean and tidy, and support kitchen operations — all in a lively, friendly environment where every day is different.

Unlike many catering jobs, our evening shifts finish early (usually before 8pm), so you can enjoy your evenings free.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve breakfast, lunch and dinner in a canteen-style dining hall
  • Prepare simple meals, snacks and packed lunches under chef supervision
  • Pot washing, cleaning kitchen equipment and keeping dining areas tidy
  • Follow food hygiene and safety standards at all times
  • Provide a friendly, helpful service to guests and staff

About you

No previous catering experience needed — we value your attitude and willingness to learn most. We’re looking for people who are:

  • Friendly and positive, with a good team spirit
  • Willing to work flexibly, including weekends
  • Happy to do active, physical work in a fast-paced environment
  • Keen to learn catering skills and take pride in your work

Living and working on site:

When you are offered a position to work in one of our Adventure Resorts, you will be offered heavily subsidised on-site shared accommodation. Rent is just £8.01 per night, around £243.59 per month.

Living and working on site has many benefits. Your daily commute could be as short as 30 seconds to five minutes. Beyond that, there’s a real community spirit and fantastic sense of camaraderie among the staff team. Living onsite gives you the opportunity to socialise with your work colleagues and enjoy the centre’s facilities.

Depending on the time of year, your accommodation may be indoors in a shared house, wooden cabin or chalet, or in a shared large frame tent during the hot summer months. Extras provided free of charge include bedding, TV and a small kitchenette for tea and toast.

For meals, our live-in colleagues can choose from three cost-effective meal packages, with the option to pay for extra meals outside their package.

Important requirements for your application:

  • Two written references
  • As we work with children and young people, this role requires a successful DBS check (criminal record check)
